Therapeutic Applications of Yoga Weekend Training: Experiential Anatomy, the Role of Fascia in Asana and Tune Up Ball Rolling Training

March 23-25, 2018
Friday 11-5pm
Saturday 12-5pm
Sunday 12-5pm

This weekend training will include lecture on anatomy, the latest science of stretch and the most up to date information on fascia, our extra cellular matrix. Trainees will learn how to practice and teach a ball rolling class, to help with opening the superficial fascia as well as work to rehab injury. We will also practice using the intention of the myofascial trains to build yoga classes. This is a great, new way to teach classes and to feel yoga in your body, recruiting the entire force distribution system of the fascial network. Trainees will leave with several class sequences for ball rolling as well as for bringing awareness to the fascia in asana practice.

Restorative Yoga, Art of Breathing and Meditation Training.

April 27-29, 2018
Friday 11-5pm
Saturday 12-5pm
Sunday 12-5pm
Join Samantha Akers, E-RYT500, C-IAYT, for this valuable training in blending the art and sciences of restorative yoga, breathing and meditation. Restorative Yoga and Yin yoga are often confused for one another, however, they are meant to be quite different in practice. In these busy times, restorative yoga is becoming more and more needed for the balance of the mind, heart, body as well as the immune, nervous and endocrine systems. As is skillful breathing and mindfulness training, to help us come back “home” into our own “divine abode” of the heart. Asana is completely supported by props and mindfulness of breath and thought instructions are given to help students to turn inward, in a safe and relaxing way. Restorative Yoga taught with these added tools is especially therapeutic in treating chronic pain, chronic fatigue, insomnia, anxiety and depression as well as many other present time aliments due to our stressful lives. This training is open to ALL students and teachers who would like to deepen their practice or learn to lead a satisfying and loving class. You will receive a manual and there are 18 hours of CEU’s offered through Yoga Alliance for teachers.

Advanced Training Weekend: Metta infused Yin Yoga: Cultivating Stillness and Science of Stretch with Samantha Akers
May 4-6, 2018
Friday 11-5pm
Saturday 12-5pm
Sunday 12-5pm
Yin Yoga and Restorative Yoga are often confused as the same or a similar practice. They are meant to be quite different, restorative is finding neutral sensation while Yin is purposefully eliciting sensations in the body. Often times, Yin is taught without the support of props, without the guide of mindfulness and without attention to keeping ligaments and tendons safe during practice. With the newest research out in stretching, we now know that the body needs support to begin to warm the fascia slowly and that isometric contractions strengthen the ligaments and tendons through a stretch. Samantha leads this training with a mindful attention to detail, biomechanics and weaves in Metta, loving kindness practice, to aid the body and heart in relaxing into the asanas. Incorporating Metta softens the heart as for some students, the sensations in Yin can bring up strong emotions and thoughts. Samantha believes this is a powerful time to bring awareness and kindness into practice. Careful attention is also paid to the joints and spine in this training so that trainees are better skilled in keeping themselves and their students healthy and safe during practice. Trainees will also learn to apply practice therapeutically, following the TCM meridians, in order to sequence specialized practice when needed. Join Sam for this super yummy training and begin to weave Yin safely, into your own practice and classes. A manual will be provided as well as 18 hours of CEU’s available for teachers.
