Classes For Beginners

Om Shala Yoga offers several ways to get started with yoga.

Intro to Yoga Workshops: These 5-week workshops lead you through yoga fundamentals, practicing sequentially with other beginners. This is a great way to get introduced to yoga and to feel comfortable stepping into an ongoing class. For dates and times, click here.

Level 1 classes: Designed to give everyone the time and support to learn basic postures, alignment, and breathing techniques. Perfect for brand-new students or for more practiced students who want to revisit the basics. No flexibility or experience required!

Nice 'n' Easy classes: For those who may want something slower and more gentle than a standard Level 1 class. Excellent for brand new students, those dealing with injuries, seniors, the stiff & inflexible, and anyone else wanting a gentler approach to yoga. No experience or flexibility required!

Restorative: For everyone, no flexibility or experience required! This practice guides you into gentle poses, most of which are done on your back and supported by folded blankets under knees, shoulders, etc. Allows the body to open and relax easily and naturally. No sweat, no effort – just extreme relaxation and gentle stretching. (This class will not offer as much instruction on alignment; focus is more on the relaxing benefits of yoga.)

Beyond Asana: This class will introduce you to some of the other aspects of yoga besides the poses and will feature yoga philosophy, breathing exercises, and meditation. Wear comfy clothes and, if you like to take notes, bring something to write on.
